What is the project about?

Shaping Futures is a two‑year community project. It supports young people and their families across Cornwall. Our aim is to raise aspirations and improve access to further education, employment, and training. We want to build a brighter future and work with home‑educated young people across Cornwall.

The Project Includes:

  • Career and skills workshops
  • Large events with employers and training providers
  • Pop‑up sessions in libraries, youth centres, and village halls
  • Support for groups who may need extra help. This includes SEND learners, Travellers, refugees and excluded learners.

The project supports young people and helps families and communities come together. It gives them space to grow and move toward a brighter future.

Who is involved?

  • Local partners help deliver activities. These include community groups, post‑16 providers and voluntary organisations..
  • The Project Team is led by a project manager. They support everyone involved to make sure the project runs well.
  • Parents and carers share ideas and feedback. This helps shape the project.

Shaped by the Community

The project is community‑led and shaped by young people and their families. Activities are designed using their ideas and take place in friendly, local spaces.

Workshop Information

Healthy Cornwall – Cook and Eat with Families.

Join Healthy Cornwall for fun cooking sessions with your family. Learn how to prepare and cook healthy meals together. Pick up simple tips for healthy eating, build cooking skills and enjoy trying new recipes.

Education Business Partnership (EBP) – STEM activities and Careers Support.

LEGO Robotics: Engineering and Coding
Build and programme your own LEGO robot. Take part in exciting challenges while learning how robots work. Develop coding, engineering and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities.

K'NEX Air Powered Cars – Science and Engineering
Design and build an air powered car using K'NEX. Test your design and see how far it can travel. Learn about forces, motion and engineering through hands-on activities with EBP.

Careers Pop-Up Workshops
Talk to the EBP team about your next steps after post-16. Find out about apprenticeships, college courses, training and different career options. Ask questions and get advice for your future.

Around the World in 80 Dogs

Take a fascinating journey through the world of dogs, exploring canine history, behaviour, rescue experiences and animal welfare. This engaging and interactive workshop offers a fresh perspective on our four-legged friends, combining real-life stories, learning and discussion in a way that feels different and inspiring.

LEGO Robotics Workshops - Potager Gardens

Please note: All workshops run from 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Are you an Electively Home Educated (EHE) young person aged 16 or under? Join us for an exciting six-week LEGO Robotics Workshop Programme at Potager Garden.

Over six fun and interactive sessions, young people will build, programme and test LEGO robots while developing valuable STEM skills in science, technology, engineering and maths. Participants will also strengthen key employability skills, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, creativity, resilience and critical thinking.

The programme will introduce young people to the wide range of careers available within STEM industries, helping them explore future opportunities and understand how these skills are used in the workplace.
