There are many services and teams supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families.

We need to hear from children and young people with SEND and their families as well as practitioners working across the system to know what is working and where the areas for improvement are.

To help us make improvements and to make sure the improvements we are making are having a positive impact on children and young people with SEND and their families, we need to hear your experiences.

If you would like to provide feedback outside of a survey, please visit Comments, compliments and complaints - Cornwall Council or email tfffeedback@cornwall.gov.uk.

Navigating the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system can be challenging for parents and carers. It can be confusing to know where to go for help and who to talk to. The different processes and words used can also be difficult to understand. Good communication helps us understand your needs and the information you require. Our SEND System Navigators provide SEND-based information and often act as a first point of contact for families of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

PLEASE NOTE, THIS SURVEY IS DESIGNED TO BE FACILITATED BY A TRUSTED ADULT AND NOT COMPLETED BY CHILDREN OR YOUNG PEOPLE INDEPENDENTLY.

For Education Staff to share with Children/YP (education staff please amend to what is age appropriate and relatable to the child(ren) you are working with):

Lots of people from across the South West, including Cornwall are working together to create an Inclusion Charter. An Inclusion Charter is a simple promise about how a school, service, or organisation will make sure every child, young person, and family feels welcome, respected, and supported. It sets out the values and actions that adults agree to follow so that everyone, no matter their needs, background, or circumstances, can take part fully.

As part of the making of an Inclusion Charter, we want to hear from children and young people like you about your experiences of feeling like you belong.

Children and Young Peoples voice is really important when shaping an Inclusion Charter because you will to bring examples of what inclusion looks like in real life not just on paper.

Including your voices makes sure than an Inclusion Charter is not just a set of promises but is something meaningful and practical that can support every child to feel valued and included.

The answers to the questions in this survey will be used alongside what parents/carers and professionals also share with us so we can develop the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Inclusion Charter.

To speak to a SEND System Navigators, please call: 01872 324242
