TOLCARNE ROAD BOULAVARD
It is becoming increasingly dangerous for people, locals and tourists alike, who cross Cliff Rd to access the beach and is only a matter of time before somebody is badly hurt or worse.
My idea is to put in a Zebra crossing for safety and to slow the traffic down.
The car park at the bottom of Tolcarne Rd is often used for beach access.
If the access road from Cliff Road down Edgumbe could be re opened it would make the beach access crossing much safer.
It would also be easier for all school traffic, coaches etc who use Tolcarne Rd as a through road to the school or to access Edcumbe Road and beyond.
To really improve the appearance of this part of town it would be lovely to create a beach access boulavard where palm trees are planted amongst the parking bays. This will also be an environmental plus and encourage wildlife.
I'm sure that the tenants of Great Western Beach would be delighted to improve the appearance, safety and footfall to their business as well as the Great Western Hotel and other surrounding businesses.
I would be very happy to discuss this idea further if given the opportunity and happy to put a drawing together to help with visualisation.
We have a Tolcarne Rd whatsapp group and all of us are very much in favour of these changes if possible.
Many thanks
