Cornwall Youth Council
North Cornwall Elections!
Young People in North Cornwall have elected their two Youth Council members!
With almost 2000 votes from education settings, family hubs and postal votes North Cornwall have had their say and elected their two representatives! Elected members are there to make sure views of young people across the whole of Cornwall are heard. It is important that we got as many young people to vote as we could and we would like to thank everyone that made voting possible. Check out our newsfeed to learn a little more about our North Cornwall elected members!
Cornwall Youth Council is for young people aged 11-25 who live or go to school in Cornwall
With the start of the new term we wanted to make our Youth Council more inclusive. That is why we chose to elect young people from the six constituency areas to make sure people from across the county are represented. We have also created other roles including community seats, peer mentors, deputies, associate members and a Youth Council Communications Team.
We hope all of these roles offer other young people the chance to get involved in a way that suits them and gives more young people across the county a voice.
We are still recruiting!
Don't worry if you missed the chance to be an elected member, there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved with the Youth Council! We are still recruiting for Community seats! Find all the information about communities seats here!
Our Youth Council is working on goals and Manifestos
We are currently planning our manifestos in groups where main themes overlap. One of the current themes being discussed is how we create safe spaces for us and other young people. We will share all the manifestos and their details when they are ready.
During our last term we had three sub committees:
- Youth Voice: changing access to Youth Voice Opportunities and making youth voice more available and accessible to young people in Cornwall
- SEND: promoting Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, with a focus on autism spectrum disorder - ensuring young people with SEND have a voice within Cornwall and are considered in the decisions that are made
- Cost of Living: addressing the current Cost of Living Crisis and it's affect on the young people of Cornwall, with a focus on mental and physical wellbeing
Cornwall Members of Youth Parliament sit within Cornwall Youth Council. We will post updates on their campaigns and projects as they develop.
