North Cornwall Election registration is now live!

A new two-year term begins for Cornwall Youth Council after county-wide voting.

Voting for both Make Your Mark and Cornwall Youth Council elections took place across Cornwall in a variety of settings, between 29th January 2024 and 1st March. Nearly 10,000 young people voted to elect a geographical representative across 5 of the 6 Cornwall Constituencies. Over 10,000 young people voted for Make Your Mark to determine what the priorities are for young people across Cornwall.

A further two constituency seats are still up for grabs in North Cornwall if you would like to get involved, put your name forward as a candidate or to learn more please email youthcouncil@cornwall.gov.uk

Our Youth Council is a group of young people who want to make a difference in Cornwall. Our goal is to empower children and young people in our communities and advocate for their needs and views. We aim to make positive changes for our own and future generations of Cornwall.

Cornwall Youth Council is for young people aged 11-25 who live or go to school in Cornwall

With the start of the new term we wanted to make our Youth Council more inclusive. That is why we chose to elect young people from the six constituency areas to make sure people from across the county are represented. We have also created other roles including community seats, peer mentors, deputies, associate members and a Youth Council Communications Team.

We hope all of these roles offer other young people the chance to get involved in a way that suits them and gives more young people across the county a voice.

During our last term we had three sub committees:

  • Youth Voice: changing access to Youth Voice Opportunities and making youth voice more available and accessible to young people in Cornwall
  • SEND: promoting Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, with a focus on autism spectrum disorder - ensuring young people with SEND have a voice within Cornwall and are considered in the decisions that are made
  • Cost of Living: addressing the current Cost of Living Crisis and it's affect on the young people of Cornwall, with a focus on mental and physical wellbeing

Cornwall Members of Youth Parliament sit within Cornwall Youth Council. We will post updates on their campaigns and projects as they develop.
