Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2025-28
The purpose of this Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) is to assess and set out how the provision of pharmaceutical services can meet the health needs of the population within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for the next three years.
This PNA is a strategic planning tool that helps to identify whether there are any gaps in the provision of pharmaceutical services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It identifies if any new pharmaceutical service providers, improvements or better access to existing services, are needed.
It is important to note that the PNA is a strategic planning tool. The PNA it is NOT a complaints mechanism. If you are experiencing a specific issue (e.g. dispensing errors, poor service or access problems), please raise your concerns through Healthwatch Cornwall, Healthwatch Isles of Scilly or the Integrated Care Board complaints mechanisms.
Who will use the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment?
The PNA is a strategic planning document used by the NHS England regional team, Cornwall Council, and the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board. The PNA is used to make decisions when applications for new pharmacies are received, and for the commissioning of other services that could be delivered by community pharmacies and other providers.
Who are we consulting and why?
The Department of Health and Social Care requires us to consult with a specified range of organisations such as pharmacies and dispensing doctors, Healthwatch and local NHS bodies. We would however also welcome feedback from the wider public.
Have your say
This consultation will close at midnight on Sunday 28th September 2025.
Please ensure you read the Draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment and related Primary Care Network Profiles (available on this page) before completing the survey.
