Newquay Clean

Newquay Clean brings together organisations, businesses, community groups and councils to help keep Newquay clean, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone who lives, works and visits the town.

The group was set up in 2020 after a particularly busy tourist season, when residents raised concerns about litter and its impact on the local environment.

If you have an old or damaged polystyrene bodyboard, you can put it in one of these bins. The boards are collected and recycled by environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy.

Polystyrene bodyboards can break easily creating safety risks in the surf. When they break small pieces can wash into the marine environment, where they can harm wildlife and contribute to pollution.

The best way to reduce this impact is to choose a durable bodyboard or hire one locally. Where polystyrene boards are still being used, these recycling bins help to keep them off our beaches and out of the sea.
