Survey for Wider Businesses

This survey is open to businesses in the wider Newquay area.

The survey aims to identify the potential impacts on businesses of the proposed changes to parking provision on Cliff Road in Newquay, improved walking and cycling facilities/routes, improved public realm, additional local car parking and more frequent rail service as part of the Mid Cornwall Metro project. The designs include the proposals below:

  • Segregated cycle lanes along Barrowfields to the tram tracks.
  • Improved pedestrian walkways and crossing provision.
  • Place-making within the town, focusing around the station area.
  • Improved accessibility to bus stops.
  • Alterations to the parking provision:
    1. Nearby Tolcarne Road Coach Park is to be reallocated to public car parking, providing an additional 66 spaces.
    2. Eight new on-street car parking spaces on nearby Oakleigh Terrace (proposed 1 hour waiting).
    3. A new and larger delivery bay on Cliff Road.
    4. Increasing free parking duration from 20-30 minutes at Newquay Station Car Park.
    5. An additional three disabled parking spaces outside the JD Wetherspoon pub (The Towan Blystra), with the waiting time increased from 30 minutes to 1 hour on all spaces in this location.
    6. Advance permits and offers will be available meaning that residents of Newquay will be able to park for less than £1 per day.

This survey aims to identify general perception, and specific views with rail improvements, walking and cycling enhancements, public realm changes, on-street car parking removal, and perception of the significant parking capacity uplift in the vicinity.
