My Team Around Me (MTAM)

A collaborative, person-centred, trauma-responsive approach to support people with multiple vulnerabilities.

My Team Around Me (MTAM) is designed for those who need sustained, empowering support and better access to services.

As needs become more complex and long‑term, creative solutions are required. My Team Around Me provides a multi-agency response in a compassionate and coordinated way. It strengthens collaboration, reduces isolation for both individuals and practitioners, and improves outcomes across the system.

Where We Are Now

The Guidance Document is now live and MDTs are conducted under the My Team Around Me approach. This will help build shared practice, consistency, and stronger collaboration across the system.

The new escalation process launched on 1st October 2026. Please now make any referrals to the Complex Needs Advisory Panel using the form in the Resources section and emailing it to: complexneedsadvisorypanel@cornwall.gov.uk.

Resource Toolkit

As part of our wider service offer, a number of resources have been developed and can be found in the side bar of this page. These include:

* Resources – all you will need for arranging, running and documenting your MTAM meetings. This section include the Guidance Document along with a handy outline of the MTAM meeting structure.

* FAQs - Bite-sized information answering key questions about the MTAM approach.

* Training & development – Alongside our 'Introduction to MTAM' and 'Leading on Complex Cases' training sessions we will also offering a monthly 'lunch & learn' to help practitioners consolidate their understanding of the MTAM approach. This will be supplemented by topic-specific 'lunch & learn' sessions in the autumn to help practitioners further their knowledge and understanding.

'Introduction to My Team Around Me'

'Introduction to My Team Around Me' is our first-stage training session designed to support professionals across the wider system working with people who experience multiple disadvantage.

This webinar explores the main concepts around ‘My Team Around Me’ and how you can introduce it to support and improve the effectiveness of multi-agency meetings.

My Team Around Me puts the service user at the centre of the support. The MTAM approach focuses on strong therapeutic relationships; on professionals working together to one set of goals; and looks at long-term stability as well as short-term crisis management.

Leading on Complex Cases: Developing confidence in coordinating MTAM meetings and advocating for an individual's need
Leading on Complex Cases is a dynamic, trauma-informed training designed for professionals who are stepping into the vital role of chairing multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Building on the foundations of 'Introduction to MTAM', this course equips participants with the skills, knowledge, and values needed to lead inclusive, effective, and ethically sound meetings that support individuals with complex needs.
What You’ll Gain:
Chairing Confidence: Learn what makes a good chair and practice key facilitation techniques.
Trauma-Informed Leadership: Understand how trauma impacts engagement and how to foster psychological safety.
