Keep it Cornish
Please note this campaign is not currently active.
Keep it Cornish is about helping Cornwall to bounce forward after lockdown by working together to keep money in Cornwall - and attracting more trade in.
It's also a place for Cornwall's businesses to swap ideas on adapting to the new normal post-lockdown, access training and find the best places to get advice.
Let's help Cornwall accelerate out of the pandemic by choosing Cornish. Let's shop and do business in a more sustainable way - being aware of how production miles affect our carbon footprint. Let's be proud and spread the word about our award winning and accredited Cornish products and services.

Goods by rail not road
by Tony in Truro, over 4 years agoSurely there will be huge savings in the emissions of Green House gases if most goods transported to and from Cornwall came by electrified rail in stead of by road. Electrifying the rail links has to be a near future must.
Is this something to plan for? What I am suggesting is Cornwall Council could think about having preliminary talks with Networkrail about creating a Rail Freight Hub (or Hubs) in Cornwall.
If a Rail Freight Hub is sensible then locating possible sites is something which could be done sooner rather than later and should be relatively cheap to undertake.

Starting A Film Production Company In A Pandemic
by Ed Smit, over 4 years agoThe three of us sat, in silence, staring at each other through the screens of our laptops… “so,
what are we gonna do?” Max asked the group tentatively. This was the question on most
people's lips as they were faced with the largest disruption to normality since the Second World
War. Life had come to a grinding halt. There would be no meetings over a morning coffee, no
traveling to far-flung locations, and certainly no film making. We were to be imprisoned in our
homes wielding whatever imagination we could to keep the dream of our Cornish film production

Keeping Cornish gardens and gardeners refreshed!
by Linda Lawlor, over 4 years agoGardening has never been more important to body, mind and soul and so, Bodmin Nursery has worked tirelessly throughout lock-down to get plants, compost & garden sundries to those who needed them. As a local grower, the nursery had all the stock it needed, the challenge was to reach customers in a new way. So, our unfuloughed team manned the phones, worked through emails and production assistants morphed into delivery drivers! Our wonderful customers have cheered us on all the way both during lock-down and once re-open. Bodmin Nursery continues to offer a delivery service to those in need as... Continue reading

Clean-Mist – Helping other Cornish Companies Function Safely
by L. Davis, over 4 years agoHygiene has always been important for businesses throughout Cornwall however the Coronavirus pandemic has really brought it to the forefront of people’s attention. Not only do companies have to consider cleanliness but also thorough sanitisation. Whilst many have implemented safety measures such as hand sanitising stations, PPE and social distancing, Clean-Mist has been working with local businesses to ensure their whole establishment is fully sanitised.
The Clean-Mist formula utilises Hypochlorous acid which has recently been shown in the news as being key in the fight against Coronavirus. It is also safe and non-toxic therefore can be sued without PPE and... Continue reading

The Pen Mightier than the Sword for Porthleven Copywriter
by Growth & Skills Hub, over 4 years agoWhat happens to you when your business primarily revolves around creating content for events, but events are no longer happening?
Suzie Inman of Mightier Words has found that out for herself over the past few months. Inman, who lends her copywriting and communications skills to Porthleven’s Food Festival amongst others, has seen a significant dent lodged in her work over what would usually be the busiest period for events and outdoor activities across Cornwall.
“Porthleven Food Festival took the decision six weeks before the festival to cancel, even before the government lockdown commenced, as we could see it coming. That... Continue reading

I thought I would have to close ! How wrong Could I have been!
by Lucy Lockets Studio & Shop, over 4 years agoI run Lucy Locket's Studio a travelling handmade gift shop based in a caravan touring shows with my blue van and handmade gifts, well at least that was the plan for 2020!
I'd been trading for a few years and doing quite well at fairs and events, just taking along a table, the problem was if it rained! I had lost so many items due to them getting damp so that got my thinking, what if I bought a caravan converted it inside and fitted it out as a shop? I did just that and opened weekends on the farm... Continue reading

by Kaidi , over 4 years agoMental Fitness (PQ) the X-Factor in Performance & Happiness
When covid19 first hit, as a mindset business coach, I quickly realised we needed more than just coaching to support those businesses and individuals impacted by the virus. After researching what wellbeing support was available, I found the latest breakthrough in neuroscience, cognitive and positive psychology, and performance science.
'Positive Intelligence - Mental Fitness six-week program with an app'.
If you're physically fit, you can climb steep hills without physical stress. If you're mentally fit, you can handle life's significant challenges without mental stress or other negative emotions. You'll be happier... Continue reading

Wild Wonder and Wisdom CIC – stimulating the mind, body and spirit amidst a pandemic
by SSE Cornwall, over 4 years agoSSE Cornwall Fellow Kathy King from Wild Wonder and Wisdom CIC has had to overcome the challenges of running an organisation rooted in physical activity and face-to-face interaction whilst in lockdown...
Wild Wonder and Wisdom CIC is a social enterprise looking to improve mental well-being (in particular emotional literacy) in young people by inspiring them to connect with nature and each other by participating in various outdoor activities. Kathy King, the Founder, is an experienced teacher who became disillusioned with mainstream education, and has since found working with empowering alternatives such as Forest School, kayaking/SUP and sea swimming to be...
