This year, EXPO Ertach Kernow 2025 | Cornish Heritage EXPO 2025 was held at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth with free parking and access to the EXPO, tours and demonstrations.
The theme this year is ‘Conservation in Action’ and the EXPO was a great opportunity to meet a range a organisations and heritage practitioners, from basket-makers to architects, and find out more about the work they do, services they provide and how to get more involved.
On Friday Julie Skentelbery, BBC Radio Cornwall joined us for a few hours, talking to some of our brilliant exhibitors and attendees. Listen back to the interviews that took place throughout the day here!
Friday 3 October, 10am to 4pm – Careers in Heritage Day
The first day of the Cornish Heritage EXPO 2025 is focused on careers in heritage and the historic environment, including landscape conservation, traditional crafts, museums and archives, building restoration and architecture.
This is a great opportunity for young people, or those considering a change of career, to find out more about opportunities within the heritage sector as well as information on work experience, apprenticeships, training and volunteering.
The day is aimed at secondary schools, colleges and universities, but we also welcome members of the public.
Saturday 4 October, 10am to 3pm – Conservation in Action Day
The second day of the Heritage EXPO 2025 is focused on conservation in action across the heritage and historic environment, offering opportunities to meet organisations and find out more about their work, as well as take part in a range of hands-on activities for people of all ages.
There will be demonstrations of basket-making, stone carving, Cornish hedging, primitive firefighting using Prehistoric methods, pottery, withy pot making, corn dolly making, archaeology and equipment used in carrying out surveys, including a robot dog, drones and 3D laser scanners.
English Heritage will be providing tours of Pendennis Castle and their Conservation in Action activities will be providing creative hands-on activities about how historic buildings and objects are looked after and information on their conservation plans.

On Friday 29 September over 250 students from local secondary schools and colleges attended the EXPO to learn more about career opportunities and pathways into employment in the heritage sector, alongside work experience, volunteering, training and apprenticeships. This career day has been supported with a grant from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
