Connor Downs, Gwithian Road: Additional footway & kerbing works.
We are proposing the additional of another section of footway & accessible friendly kerbing.
What are we consulting on?
The updated proposal includes creating two new sections of footway to replace the grass verges beside 5 and 7 Gwithian Road. These new paths will connect to the existing footway at the northbound bus stop, which will remain in place. In addition, new dropped‑kerb crossing points at the junction of Gwithian Road and Kensa Way will make it easier for pedestrians to reach bus services and continue their journeys.
During the previous consultation in July 2025, several improvements were proposed for southbound bus services. These included a footway waiting area, seating, a bus stop flag sign, and a timetable case. A dropped‑kerb crossing of Gwithian Road between the proposed southbound stop and the opposite footway was also put forward.
These earlier proposals were widely supported. They will go ahead with some minor changes: the waiting area for the southeast‑bound bus stop will be extended to link with the nearby property access, and the bench will be removed because there is not enough space on the footway.

Why are we doing this?
This area has been identified by Cornwall Council as part of their programme of upgrading bus stops across Cornwall to make public transport more user friendly, also this has been identified by the local community as requiring improvement and upgrading to make public transport more accessible.
Currently, passengers waiting for buses have to do so from the verge, accessing these stops can be challenging.
The 2 proposals will provide more convenience and greater accessibility to the bus stop.
