Each year, Directors of Public Health produce an annual report that tells the story about the health of their population. In Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly we have chosen to use this year’s report, which will be a joint report with the Directors of Children’s Services for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, as a vehicle for shining the spotlight on the significant issue of child poverty.

The report will share the lived experiences of babies, children, and young people, captured through a series of engagement activities, to illustrate what it means to grow up in poverty in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. To gather a full picture of the impact of poverty, we would like to hear from professionals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly working with babies, children and young people, to capture their views on how poverty affects children and the impact that managing the symptoms of poverty has on their organisation.

Survey responses will be analysed and used in the 2025 Director of Public Health Report for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The report will help leaders make decisions about health and wellbeing priorities and will culminate in a ‘call to action’ through an open letter that will represent the voices of babies, children and young people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Your insights are crucial in helping us understand the impact of child poverty in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Please share your views by completing the survey below. The survey closes on Friday 6th June 2025.
