Celebrate Catch the Bus Month with Transport for Cornwall

This Catch the Bus Month, Transport for Cornwall is inviting Cornwall residents of all ages to get creative and help brighten up our public transport network.

We're launching an exciting competition to design:

  • A graphic/vinyl for your local bus stop or shelter
  • A design to feature on the exterior of a double decker bus

This is your opportunity to showcase what makes Cornwall special and see your artwork displayed for your community to enjoy. This is your chance to leave a lasting mark on Cornwall's public transport network, celebrate bus travel, and inspire others to choose sustainable transport.

Get creative, get involved, and help us transform bus stops and buses across Cornwall with artwork that reflects the people and places that make Cornwall unique.

How to Enter

The competition is open to all Cornwall residents. Whether you're a student, artist, bus user, or simply passionate about your community, we'd love to see your ideas. If you're under 18 years old, please ask your parent or guardian for permission to enter.

To submit your entry, please use the submission form below. You will be asked to provide:

  1. Your design artwork should be submitted as a PDF or in one of these formats: JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP or PNG. Maximum file size is 200MB.
  2. A short paragraph explaining your design and the inspiration behind it. This will help the judging panel understand your vision and how it relates to your chosen theme.

The deadline date for design submissions is midnight on 30th September 2026.

Design Guidance

Your design must be based on one of the following themes:

  • Local Community Interests
  • The Environment
  • Public Transport
  • Celebrating Bus Drivers
  • Your Individual Bus Journey

Please note that designs must not advertise, depict or include specific venues, attractions, businesses, organisations or trademarks.

Before starting your design, please consider:

  • The bus shelter you are designing for, including its size and location.
  • Designs for shelters can only be installed onto glass panels.
  • Your artwork is likely to be produced on a transparent film to maintain visibility from within the shelter.
  • Designs for the exterior of a double deck bus cannot cover any windows on the side or rear of the bus.
  • Designs for the exterior of the bus should be made up of one base colour (not black) and up to 3 additional colours for the rest of the design.
  • Designs should be suitable for display in a public space and visible from a distance.

For bus shelter entries, designs should be scaled and sized appropriately for installation on your local shelter.

For bus entries, designs should be scaled and sized to a standard double deck vehicle. Some discussion and modifications may be required to ensure the winning design fits to the specific vehicle utilised.

Cornwall Council reserves the right to professionally enhance and amend any chosen design to ensure it meets required standards and is suitable for public display on highway street furniture and the exterior of a vehicle.

A judging panel will select the winning designs. Winners will be notified by email

See our Terms and Conditions for more details.
