Welcome to the Planning Validation Guide Consultation
When submitting a planning application, the application must meet specified requirements before it can be passed to a Case Officer for consideration and decision. This process is known as the validation process.
These requirements which are needed for validation are set out in a validation guide.
There are two sets of requirements:
National requirements - required by legislation; and
Local requirements (also referred to as the local list) - set by the Local Planning Authority (LPA).
The local list must be formally adopted and regularly reviewed. To formally adopt a local list the following steps must be followed:
Step 1 - Reviewing the existing list;
Step 2 - Consulting on proposed changes; and
Step 3 - Finalising and publishing the revised local list.
Step 1 has taken place and a draft version of the revised validation guide including the local list has been produced. The draft validation guide can be found under documents on the right hand side of this page.
This consultation forms step 2 of the process. The consultation is open for 21 days.
Step 3 will take place once the consultation period closes. It is unknown how long this part of the process will take and will depend on the feedback received and amendments required.
Please note: The document being consulted on is a PDF document. This is for consultation purposes only. Once the content has been agreed this information will be made into web pages as follows:
One page which lists all the application types,
A page for each application type,
A page for each requirement.
Links have been used in the PDF document to illustrate how the pages will work and link together. However the ability to move around the sections will be fully functional once the web version is live.
Should you have any queries please contact Donna Moore by emailing planning@cornwall.gov.uk. Please do not use this email to submit comments.
