Cornwall & IoS Inclusion Charter - Parent/Carers - what does inclusion mean to you?
Parents/Carers (National Network of Parent Carer Forum), Children/Young People (SEND Children and Young People Self-Advocacy Group), Education staff, Health colleagues and Local Authorities from across the South West are working together to create an Inclusion Charter. An Inclusion Charter is a simple promise about how a school, service, or organisation will make sure every child, young person, and family feels welcome, respected, and supported. It sets out the values and actions that everyone agrees to follow so that everyone, no matter their needs, background, or circumstances, can take part fully.
As part of the Inclusion Charter creation, we want to hear from parents/carers and children and young people about their experiences of inclusion.
Parent and carer voice is vital when shaping an Inclusion Charter because you understand children's strengths, needs, and the everyday barriers they face. By sharing your experiences, you will bring examples of what inclusion looks like in real life not just on paper.
Including parent and carer voices ensures an Inclusion Charter is not simply a set of promises, but a meaningful, practical commitment that truly supports every child to feel valued, included, and able to thrive.
The answers to the questions in this survey will be used to develop the Inclusion Charter for Cornwall & IoS.
