We are inviting comments on a proposal to change the existing waiting restriction on Beach Road, Porth.
What are we consulting on?
The existing waiting restriction on Beach Road, Porth applies from 9am to 9pm between May and September. The new restriction would apply from 1 March to 31 October and would be in place 24 hours a day during this period.
Why are we doing this?
The proposal follows reported concerns about the existing seasonal yellow lines being regularly covered by sand, leading to inappropriate and obstructive parking near the beach access.
The new restriction will be signed at the entrances to the zone, with repeater signs provided throughout the area. This means there will be no need for road markings (yellow lines), which can become covered by sand and difficult to see. This will reduce ongoing maintenance requirements and allow for more robust enforcement. Changing the restriction to operate 24 hours a day will also prevent parking early and late in the day, including overnight, in this popular area during the tourist season.
