We are proposing to improve walking, cycling and access to the bus stops on Barncoose Terrace.

What are we consulting on?

The proposals include new cycle lanes, improved crossings, planting, upgraded bus shelters and protected parking bays along Barncoose Avenue. New ‘gateway’ landscaping is proposed at the Barncoose Avenue junction to signify the entrance into Pool.

While doing this we also are proposing to increase the speed limit along Dudnance Lane to 40mph, while we will be added double yellow lines around the Wilson Way Roundabout and to the East.

Why are we doing this?

The aim is to reduce speed and traffic along Barncoose Terrace, whilst encouraging use of the Barncoose Industrial Estate (A3047) instead. The proposed walking and cycling measures naturally narrow the road, whilst improving access to the bus stops. Planting and artwork would also be incorporated.

This scheme forms part of a wider 'aspiration/vision' for Pool, making improvements for walking, cycling and public transport along the old A3047. The aim is also to discourage it's use as a through road, with more traffic using the new A3047 through Barncoose Industrial Estate instead. The funding available would deliver a section of that wider Pool vision.
