Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are renowned for their natural beauty. From moss filled woodlands, cliffs blooming with heather, wind-swept moorland and seals playing beneath the waves: our landscape and wildlife are a vital part of our heritage and identity.

But nature is in trouble. The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. Wildlife in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly sadly mirrors this trend. Imagine a woodland walk without the sound of birdsong, or a flower-filled meadow without the buzzing of bees.

It’s not too late to act. Together one and all can protect our valuable wildlife and bring nature back. This is where your Pledge for Nature comes in, to help provide more spaces for wildlife so that nature is bigger, better and more joined up.

Anyone can make a Pledge for Nature, from residents who make spaces for nature on their windowsills or gardens, or who volunteer their time, to farmers and landowners working in a nature-friendly way, to fishers keeping the seas clean and healthy and foresters sustainably managing woodlands, community growers making space for pollinators, local businesses with sustainability at their heart, and Town and Parish Councils managing their green and blue spaces for wildlife.

Collectively, we can work towards achieving 30% of our land, rivers and seas being well-managed for nature by 2030 so that us and future generations can enjoy wildflower rich meadows filled with buzzing bees and seas teeming with life.

Your Pledge is also helping to deliver the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Nature Recovery Strategy which includes best practice, local priorities and actions for nature and maps showing opportunities for enhancing and creating spaces for nature.
