We are proposing to narrow the approaches at the mini-roundabout junction with new islands at Fraddon Hill and a build-out on Ridgewell Terrace.

What are we consulting on?

The proposals are:

Ridgewell Terrace to Barton Road – a new build out on Ridgewell Terrace, approximately 75m south of The Blue Anchor, is to be installed to narrow the road for the purpose of reducing the speed of travelling vehicles towards the village.

Penhale to Ridgewell Terrace – ‘No waiting, at any time’ restrictions are aimed at preventing inappropriate and obstructive parking; to reduce vehicle conflict and improve the safety of all road users.

Penhale to Ridgewell Terrace – introducing advisory parallel parking bays to provide parking for the local community.

Parka Road Roundabout – introducing pedestrian islands to aid pedestrian crossing and kerb realignments to help improve safety at the roundabout with Fraddon Hill; with reinstatement of existing double yellow lines.

Parka Road to Saint Columb - introducing central hatching to narrow the road to help reduce speeds on the approach to the roundabout.

Why are we doing this?

The main objective of the scheme is to implement the feasibility design aimed at reducing traffic speed and collisions to enhance the road safety in the area.

This is in response to local concerns about reducing vehicle speeds and improving road safety. It is thought that the introduction of these measures will help to reduce vehicle speeds, improve road safety for all road users and encourage active travel for local trips.
