Walking and Cycling
As many people have already commented, lockdown provided a greater opportunity to walk and cycle without the fear of traffic. This was in many ways a very special experience, and felt like a genuine once in a lifetime event.
I would like to see a significant investment in cycle lanes and footpaths to produce a network of safe routes that link up our towns and villages. To cycle from Truro to Falmouth for example, without sharing the journey with cars, lorries and buses, would give so many the incentive to leave the car at home. This would lead to improved health and lower pollution for those using the new routes and lower traffic volumes for those still driving.
I would hope to see routes of a standard seen commonly in France, using entirely separate lanes to provide genuine separation from motorised transport. Painting the side of the road a different colour will not cut it.
