Less people everywhere would help all
Tourism is only one aspect of income generation, and has become prevalent here because of the type of area (seaside) and the reduction in varying industries, small and large, which were able to (mostly) keep people in employment.
To focus on only one aspect of anything, and to expect simple, one-dimensional solutions to complex problems, is to court disaster, which is what humans are quite good at. ALL the problems facing humans, wildlife, climate, economies and so on, are being compounded at an alarming rate by our own overpopulation. This includes the pandemonium about Covid-19! There is no point talking about 'our children' or 'our grandchildren' or 'the next generation', when the very fact that you have produced them seals their increasingly bitter future. Visit the website of Population Matters to see how we can effectively reduce our impact on the world - but be prepared to accept that you may have to look again, many times, at your own decisions, desires, and what you have been taught to think of as your 'rights'. Rights are a popular watchword now, they sound good and punchy, but they come with a corollary - responsibilities. Every time someone splits cells and produces a child, they have unleashed a vast responsibility which extends far beyond their own life, yet so many will never notice or realise that, instead preferring to limit the horizons of their vision to the end of their own noses. The more people there are, the more chasing after increasingly scarce resources, work, and peace of mind. To try to prop up ageing populations by producing more children doesn't need a degree in maths to realise that exponential growth will result - and then even bigger populations will be needed to prop up the even bigger next ageing population!
