Implement the FCNM

The Cornish were recognised under the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities in 2014. The FCNM has the potential to deliver enormous benefit from inclusion in public life to strengthening Cornish identity to increasing Cornish history, language and culture resources in schools. Cornwall Council is the gatekeeper to the FCNM but needs to open out ownership by resourcing a variety of grass roots awareness raising programmes. This would enable thousands of Cornish people to understand and use the protections that the Framework Convention can bring and gain better insights into opportunities to develop and promote Cornish culture, Cornish influence and our distinct identity.
