A co-ordinated approach to home deliveries

Four or five delivery vans per day, to every street and lane in Cornwall... mostly delivering small parcels. Why not have a more co-ordinated approach? Parcels could be dropped off at regional depots along the major routes through Cornwall and then a network of local vans could focus on delivering to specific areas. This would reduce the volume of traffic on the road and the consequent pollution, accidents, delays, road damage, noise etc. And it would enhance the community feel of Cornwall because we'd know our local drivers and they would know us - and they'd be more likely to notice when something isn't as it normally is. Ok, so it may take a few more hours to receive a parcel but we now understand that there's a price to pay for ultra-convenience.
