Newquay, Nansledan: Pedestrian Improvements
We are proposing to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility along the route to include new pedestrian crossings, the installation of a zebra and traffic light crossing, and the removal of parking near the existing crossing to improve visibility.
What are we consulting on?
The changes to pedestrian crossing facilities in the area, which include the introduction of new pedestrian crossings, a traffic light crossing, a zebra crossing and changes to parking arrangements near an existing crossing. These proposals are designed to improve pedestrian safety, enhance visibility for both road users and pedestrians, and ensure that crossing points operate effectively.
Why are we doing this?
This scheme is being proposed to improve road safety and accessibility for pedestrians, particularly at key crossing points. Existing conditions mean that visibility can be limited in some locations, increasing the risk for people crossing the road. By introducing the new pedestrian crossings, providing a new zebra crossing, and removing parking near an existing crossing, the scheme aims to reduce conflict between vehicles and pedestrians, improve sight lines, and create a safer, more accessible environment for everyone who uses the street.
This is a follow on from our previous consultation back September 2025: Newquay, Nansledan: 20mph and 30mph Speed Limits.
