Bude, Kilkhampton: A39 Safety Scheme

We are considering new safety improvements for the A39 in and around Kilkhampton.
What are we consulting on?
We are considering two areas to help to improve:
Pedestrian crossing point near The Square:
The plan includes formalising a frequently used pedestrian crossing point north of the Spar shop. This will involve lowering the kerbs and adding a coloured surface to make the crossing point more visible. Adjustments to bus stop markings and extended double yellow lines are also proposed to improve pedestrian safety and reduce congestion.
Priority build-out on the Northern approach:
A priority build-out is proposed for the northern entrance to Kilkhampton. This feature is designed to help slow down vehicles entering the village, with new signage and bollards to enhance visibility. Existing road markings will be refreshed to further support safety.
Why are we doing this?
The primary objective is to enhance safety for both pedestrians and drivers, while also improving traffic flow in the area.
