New release: Improving Energy Efficiency in Historic Buildings
Historic buildings all differ and are subject to varying levels of protection under the planning system. They vary in their construction, location, quality of services and the way they are used. There is no ‘one size fits all’ solution to upgrade their energy efficiency. Retrofitting can often damage the authenticity, character and setting of a historic building.
This guide and associated appendices highlight behavioural changes, principles and case studies that could be followed to upgrade a historic building whilst retaining its special character.
