    Liz has over 20 years experience of working with communities that are at risk of flooding.  She has supported lots of communities across Cornwall, and the wider South West to develop community flood plans and form community flood groups.  Liz lives locally to Bude and would be happy to meet up with anyone who want to learn more about the project.

    Justin Ridgewell
    Future Coast Bude Coastal Specialist @ Cornwall Council

    Justin has 25 years’ experience working as a specialist within the coastal and marine sector. 

    Over the years, Justin’s roles have covered coastal monitoring, marine survey, flood risk management, coastal erosion and shoreline management plans. He has worked on innovative projects at various locations in Cornwall, including nature-based solutions for more sustainable coastal defence, community adaptation and resilience, and smarter use of data to support engagement.

    Justin lives down the coast near St Agnes, but currently spends quite a bit of his time in Bude!

    Helen Nicholson
    Future Coast Bude Programme Manager @ Cornwall Council

    Helen has worked with communities in Cornwall as a Community Link Officer for 17 years. Prior to that, she worked within economic development, in particular as a programme manager for rural and coastal economic community grants.

    As a Community Link Officer, Helen has worked alongside many Cornwall Councillors and also town and parish councils and stakeholders on improving public open spaces, local highway safety and improvements, town centre regeneration amongst many issues. Following flood events in 2012 and 2013, Helen supported communities in their recovery efforts and ran a Property Resilience grant programme.

    Building community resilience is a passion for Helen – she has led the Neighbourhood Development Plan in her home parish of St Clement and managed various projects, including playing field improvements in her village.
