Do you have an idea to improve our Fal and Helford Special Area of Conservation (SAC) but need a little support to get it moving? The Fal and Helford Special Area of Conservation Estuary Team at Cornwall Council are currently offering funds for Marine Protected Area improvements.
We’re taking applications for up to £10,000, with all projects over £1,000 to be approved by the Fal and Helford SAC Steering Group. For projects of especially high value to the SAC we will consider giving more than £10,000.
We want to hear from all those who recreationally use our waters on how a small grant could help you reduce your environmental impact in the SAC. The fund specifically supports projects in the marine recreation sector and can be used for full or part funding of a project.
Projects can cover any number of Green Blue Sustainable Boating areas including but not limited to:
Improvements to environmental policies
Team-work and volunteering
Communications e.g. information boards
Biosecurity and invasive species prevention
Wildlife and habitats
Waste and pollution control
Water management
Energy use
Travel
Carbon reduction
To apply please contact Sue Scott, susan.1.scott@cornwall.gov.uk, Fal and Helford Estuary Officer, with a 1-side of A4 project brief outlining your aims and financial requirements.
Conditions:
Applications are open to organisations within the Fal and Helford SAC who recreationally use the area e.g. harbours, gig clubs, dive shops. If you’re unsure if this includes you please contact Sue Scott, susan.1.scott@cornwall.gov.uk to enquire.
Applications are reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis; once all available funds have been allocated, the Marine Environmental Fund will be closed.
Each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Fal and Helford Estuary Officer for applications under £1,000, and by the Fal and Helford SAC Steering Group for applications over £1,000. The team reserves the right to approve or decline any application, following a review and discussion with the applicant.
