Shopfront Enhancement Grants

Experience Newquay is offering grants of up to £2,500 for businesses to improve the appearance of the facades and frontages of buildings in Newquay's town centre, in the area between Central Square and Towan Beach.

Who is the grant for?
The grant is for properties whose facades/shopfronts are highlighted on the map below:


Project background
The appearance of Newquay town centre has degraded in recent years. As a result of consultation with residents and key stakeholders in the town, the need to improve facades and frontages was identified as a priority.

Experience Newquay in partnership with Newquay BID and Newquay Town Council is supporting Newquay Town Team’s “Towan Beach Triangle” project which aims to improve the experience for residents and visitors between Newquay’s town centre and Towan beach.

Objectives of the grant:

  • improve the street facing property façade
  • impact positively on the overall streetscape/townscape
  • tackle prominent buildings or blocks of buildings (joint applications are welcome)
  • repair, reinstate or preserve traditional architectural/historic features of the property

Examples of what the grant can be used for:

  • Tidy-up (eg. painting, cleaning, repairs etc.)
  • Signage
  • Creative ideas for improving the appearance of the area
  • Greenery & planting
  • Screening (eg. hiding back of house etc)

Amount you can apply for:
The maximum individual grant sum available is £2,500. All applications must provide at least 20% match funding in addition to the sum of money they are applying for.
