Supporting Young People, One Conversation at a Time

It’s been another busy week meeting young people and helping them explore their next steps. While most of our work happens in schools, we also support students who are NEET or unable to attend school. This means meeting them in the community, in places where they feel comfortable.

This week, Laura Morrison (key worker) met a young person at a local driving range. As he practiced his swing, they talked about his goals and future options. Meeting in a relaxed setting helped him open up and engage more fully.

Laura also visited Potager Gardens to meet another young person. Over a pot of tea, they discussed how he might re-engage with education. After a walk through the tropical greenhouse on a rainy September day, we created a plan and submitted a referral to the YEP! Project.

Finding the right environment makes a big difference. These moments remind us that flexibility and empathy lead to better outcomes.

Well done Laura Morrison!
