Community Litter-Picking Signs Pilot

Following feedback from the Cornwall Litter Network Summit, we’re looking for a small number of locations to take part in a pilot exploring whether signs highlighting local volunteer involvement can help reduce littering and encourage greater community pride.

The pilot will involve monitoring litter within an agreed area before and after signage is installed. To help us understand the impact of the signs, participating groups will be asked to carry out some simple monitoring and submit data so we can measure any changes over time.

At this stage, we're simply looking to identify groups and locations that may be suitable to take part. If your group is selected, we'll be in touch to arrange a meeting and discuss the pilot in more detail.

Please include enough information for us to identify the location, for example a road name, car park, lay-by, street, beach access or other landmark. Or if you think this should take place in more than one location, please explain where and why.

For example, is it an area that repeatedly becomes littered after being cleared? Are there particular littering problems or patterns?
This will be an important part of the pilot as we need to understand what happens before and after the signs are introduced.
