This is a 10-year strategy to continue the revitalisation of Kernewek, the Cornish language. Its vision is for Cornish to be a thriving, forever language – widely spoken, seen and heard in everyday life in Cornwall.
The strategy focuses on four key areas: Dyski | Learning, Kemeneth & Gonisogeth | Community & Culture, Savla | Status and Korpus | Corpus.
These areas work together to strengthen community pride and wellbeing, develop skills and resources and position Cornwall confidently on a national, international and global stage.
We would like to know your views on the draft of the Cornish Language Strategy through answering the questions below. The responses will inform a final version of the strategy that Cornwall Council will consider and publish in July 2026.
To respond to the consultation, please complete our consultation survey below. You are welcome to respond in either English or Cornish, and you can find both versions of the survey below.
Alternatively, you can respond by email to cultureteam@cornwall.gov.uk or by post to: Cornish Language Strategy Consultation, Lys Kernow, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 3AY. Please ensure your response reaches us by 19 June 2026.
