Cornwall Climate Commitments
Show you care and commit to
low carbon choices
Climate change can feel like a problem that is so much bigger than us and too big to fix.
But there are steps we can all make to take control and create better lives for ourselves and future generations. And if we all make low carbon choices to how we live - together, we can make a BIG impact for Cornwall and our planet.
Changing how we think and behave can be challenging, and some changes are easier than others.
There are lots of things we can do to reduce our carbon footprint and make a difference. Some of them are small and easier to do, other things are more complicated and take more effort.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has."
Margaret Mead
We are working with partners, organisations, local councils, businesses and community groups to co-design a series of Cornwall Climate Commitments.
We want to hear from as many people as possible about how they will or are already doing things differently to play their part in helping Cornwall to become carbon neutral (Net Zero Carbon).
We will gather everyone's climate commitments and share them, so we can all help each other to change My world for Our planet.
We have attended several events recently, where there have been films and speakers, and stalls offering help, guidance and ideas on what you can do to help tackle climate change, including the:
- St Austell Climate Festival at St Austell College, on 27 November
- Big Green Fair at Truro Cathedral, on Saturday 19 March
- Farm and Country Days at the Royal Cornwall Showground, on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 March
- Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Ecological Emergency Summit at Heartlands on 24 March
- Planet A Decarbonisation Roadshow at the Alverton Manor, on 5 April.
We will be at events in the coming weeks and months, including the:
- VCSE 2030 So we think we're climate resilient? at Epiphany House, Truro on Wednesday 27 April
- Cornwall Green Energy Company Ideas Day at Chacewater Village Hall, on Thursday 28 April
- St Austell Bay Resilient Regeneration (StARR) Open Day at The Burrows Centre Par, on 6 and 7 May
- St Ives Pride at Palemon Best Recreational Park, St Ives, on 11 June
