We are improving safety along Turf Street in Bodmin by trialling a parking restriction zone.
What are we consulting on?
For a trial period, there will be a restricted parking zone along Turf Street, Bodmin which would mean no waiting and no loading at any time. There will be designated bays for loading available.
Why?
There have been concerns raised about the safety of pedestrians. When vehicles are parked partially on the footway, this can lead to pedestrians walking into the road.
By introducing these restrictions, we can eliminate footway obstructions and allow a safe passage for pedestrians and improve the flow of traffic along Turf Street.
The trial period (known as an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO)) will allow us to gauge the success of the design.
Next steps
The consultation period will run from 7th March 2025 to the 6th September 2025.
Estimated work to be completed by September 2026
The ETRO may stay in force for a period of up to 18 months, whilst its effects are monitored and assessed, before any decision is made to make these arrangements permanent.
