‘Agan Lev’ (Our Voice) is a survey to consider what the next opportunities are for developing use of the Cornish language. The survey has been commissioned by 'An Rosweyth', a network of Cornish language community groups. Agan Lev consists of three stages:
Stage 1 – a series of workshops to discuss current issues for Cornish speakers, students and those groups interested in using the language, and to discuss what projects would be useful in taking Kernewek forward.
Stage 2 – an online survey on themes that came out of Agan Lev in 2017/18.
Stage 3 – findings from the workshops and survey will be presented to the Rosweyth for discussion in order to draft a project bank framework.
The project bank will help the community groups decide priority projects for the next 5 years and support funding applications by showing the strategic value of small projects.
At the moment, we are only able to get short-term funding for Cornish language projects. Through Agan Lev, we want to create a project bank so that each short-term project is a step towards a bigger goal.
Agan Lev will also help us use grant-funding to develop the capacity of the Cornish language groups to meet what the community needs. By completing this survey, you will be helping us to plan ahead for the coming years.
The member groups of An Rosweyth are: Agan Tavas, Cussell an Tavas Kernowek, Kowethas an Yeth Kernewek, An Kylgh Kernewek, Kesva an Taves Kernewek, Movyans Skol Veythrin.
