Explore new and old at Tehidy this summer

There are many exciting new initiatives to find out about at Tehidy this summer, from Tree-Listening workshops with Kate Ogley to discovering the hidden Poetry Privy and finding out about the ancient site of Tehidy Round. These activities will connect you to the fascinating history of Cornwall’s beloved Country Park.

Tehidy Creative Residency

The collaboration between Cornwall Council and Creative Kernow continues into its third artist in residence at Tehidy Country park. Kate Ogley is a Cornwall-based artist working on the theme of home, memory and place through digital film and sound installations. Kate’s residency at Tehidy will take place in August 2025 where she will lead opportunities to listen to the secret life of trees and develop workshops and activities revealing the life of creatures living in the woods that is often hidden from human senses or often left unnoticed. As well as drop-in tree-listening sessions, there will be a moth event and opportunity to co-create an installation of clay bees swarming through the treescape.

Tehidy Privy

Over the last year an intimate space nestled in the woodland has been intricately explored and reimagined by a talented group of foster families that have used the poetry to share their experiences of personal connection through the care system.

Resulting in a book of Poetry created by the foster families, Tehidy Privy, as well as new collection from the lead Poet Megan Chapman and collaborators, this innovative project has highlighted the special ways that the opportunity to connect to nature provided at Tehidy can be a foundation for building meaningful and supportive relationships and fostering caring communities.

The Privy was a falling down and forgotten structure but has been restored and brought to life with inviting mosaics showcasing poetry written by the families. You can find it at the top of Kennels Hill, Tehidy Country Park.

Tehidy Round Interpretation Project – Kir Tihydin

Cornwall National Landscape’s Monumental Improvement project has brought to life one of Tehidy’s Iron Age/Romano-British Rounds through a new interpretation panel and QR link to visual reconstructions.

The panel will be in—situ from the beginning of August 2025 and will showcase what the round, believed to have been used as an animal pound, would have looked like 2,000 years ago.

The round can be found in the woods a short distance from Tehidy’s North Cliffs Carpark.
