What are we consulting on?

There has been an application submitted to stop up a section of highway at Threemilestone Community Centre, Threemilestone. The area proposed for stopping up is shown with a black and white stripe on plan in the documents section to the right.

Cornwall Council is now consulting on this proposal and is inviting comments or objections from the public before proceeding further.

Why are we doing this?

Cornwall Council has received an application under Section 117 of the Highways Act 1980 to stop up a section of highway at Threemilestone Community Centre, Threemilestone.

The area in question, shown with a black and white stripe on plan, has been built on and is no longer accessible for public use. As such, it is considered surplus to highway requirements.

If the stopping up order is granted, highway rights over this land will be removed, and responsibility for maintenance will revert to the landowner or adjacent properties.

Before proceeding with an application to the court, the Council is seeking views from the wider community and highway users as part of the consultation process.
