We are proposing improvements to the existing bus stops situated along Newquay Road, close to the entrance of the Carloggas Grove estate in St Columb Major.

What are we consulting on?

The eastbound bus stop currently does not provide a designated waiting area for pedestrians. We propose to add a new section of footway within the existing verge to create a safe and accessible area for pedestrians to wait for eastbound bus services.

To improve pedestrian access to the bus stops, we propose installing dropped kerbs to create an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing point. This will connect the new section of footway on the northern side of Newquay Road with the existing footway on the southern side.

In the westbound direction, a new post will be installed to hold a timetable case and a bus stop flag sign, indicating the presence of a bus stop serving both directions.

Why are we doing this?

This area has been identified by Cornwall Council as part of their programme of upgrading bus stops across Cornwall to make public transport more user friendly.

Currently, passengers waiting for buses have to do so from the verge. The new footway will provide more convenience and greater comfort.

Next steps

Once the Consultation finishes we will collect the feedback to decide what to do next.
