The S175/157 Audit
This audit helps ensure that our schools meet their statutory responsibilities for safeguarding and child protection as outlined in Sections 175/157 of the Education Act 2002. It is a necessary and proportionate mechanism to ensure that education settings are compliant with their statutory duties and the Local Safeguarding Partnership processes and procedures.
It should be completed by the Headteacher and the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in consultation with the school safeguarding team and the Governing Body. The audit will provide schools with a comprehensive self-review of their safeguarding policies and practices as well as a safeguarding action plan detailing strengths and areas for development.
