Important Terms and Conditions

    • Any entry must be your original work, and it must not infringe the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights. You agree to indemnify the Council against any claim from any third party for any breach of this clause. 
    • Photos may be taken with a camera or with a camera phone, however, images generated by Artificial Intelligence will not be considered. The use of Artificial Intelligence in manipulating photos is disallowed. 
    • The photo entry must not include any of the following: images that involve illegal activity, nudity or product advertising. 
    • Any image will be rejected if it appears to have been taken in such a way that wildlife law or animal welfare requirements may have been breached or it has been otherwise taken in an irresponsible way. The  Council will take any appropriate actions to investigate any potential crimes.
    • The Council reserves the right to refuse any entries from the Competition for any reason. 
    •  You agree to grant the Council a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the Competition entry to use, display, transmit, copy, edit, store, re-format and sub licence the Competition entry for any legitimate purposes, including but not limited to marketing, publicity, advertising and presentations. 
    • All entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Council from any and all liability including but not limited to; liabilities, claims, loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense which may occur in connection with this Competition.
    • If the Council are unable to contact the winners for each category despite its reasonable efforts within 30 days after the 31st December 2025 the photo will still be used by the Council for the purposes of this Competition.
    • The Council is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy and will only use your personal information in accordance with these terms and conditions and the Council’s privacy policy which is available on the Council’s website at https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/the-council-and-democracy/website-help-and-information/privacy-policy/
    • Your data will be kept securely in line with UK GDPR regulations, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Council’s privacy policy for a period of three (3) years. 
    • Entrants who do not comply with these terms and conditions or attempt to interfere with the Competition in any way shall be disqualified.
    • The information given in these terms and conditions is correct, but the Council reserves the right to change any of it without prior notice. 
    • By entering the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
    • The Competition will be governed by English law and the jurisdiction of the English courts.  

    What will happen to my photo if I submit an entry?

    • Photos will be stored on file by Cornwall Council and shared by email with shortlisting panel members, comprised of members of the Cornwall Local Access Forum and the Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and the Environment (Cornwall Council).  

    • Ten (10) photos will be shortlisted for each age category (over 18 and under 18)If your photo is shortlisted to take part in the public vote, we will publish it on our Let’s Talk Cornwall website and we may also use it to promote this competition, including by publishing it on our communication and social media channels.  

    • All shortlisted photos may be used to promote the Rights of Way network in Cornwall and they will also be used within the final Rights of Way Improvement Plan document, with the photo title, location and credit to the photographer  

    • Whenever we use your photo, we will credit youWhen you submit your photo online you will be able to tell us how you would like to be credited. 

    Can my photo have people in it?

    Yes, after all, what is a Right of Way without people using them? However, there are some privacy rules we all have to respect:

    • Any people shown in an identifiable way in the photo must have provided you with permission for their photo to be submitted in this competition. 
    • You  will need to provide us with contact details of any identifiable people in your photo so we can check and obtain our own permission - so please make sure you have contact details for anyone in your photo. 
    • If your photo has children under the age of 18 in it, their parent / guardian / carer must give permission for the photo to be submitted. 

    What information do I need to submit with my photo?

    • Entrants full name, email address, phone number and age
    • Photo Title
    • How you wish to be credited if your photo is shortlisted

    • Contact details for any identifiable people in the photo and confirmation they provide permission for their image to be entered in this competition. 

    Can I withdraw my entry?

    Yes, you can withdraw entries at any point up to and including 31st December 2025 by contacting rowip@cornwall.gov.uk
