The hidden cost of tourism vs sustainable future for Cornwall

I’m really weary of the huge gap between the glossy romantic media portrayal of Cornwall (now on TV too) and the reality of low wages, the reliance on seasonal work, ‘poverty & deprivation’...the suicide rates here are shocking.

A truly sustainable future that offers prosperity and security could surely be found in green technology?

There are many creative minds here and the Cornish have a history of innovation but it needs political will to put investment where it’s needed.

The introduction on this site talks of walking, using bicycles etc to reduce carbon footprint so please explain to me why - thanks to planning approval - there are now carbon-belching noise-polluting helicopters flying over Penwith 17 times a day throughout the year ...?

Is this going forward?

Is a few minutes pleasure for tourists or wealthy island residents more important than the all day everyday peace of mainland residents ?

Is this island lifestyle carbon footprint sustainable?

You need to put your money where your mouth is if you expect us to believe you - otherwise it’s just a bad case of greenwash.
