Saint Anne's
Lockdown boosted a panic-buying spree, so I changed the back garden, getting rid of old decking and digging out a high maintenance 'lawn' so that I could grow some vegetables and herbs.
It matters a lot to me to garden without sprays or noisy machines, for the sake of the wildlife.
What else matters in my life is preserving the peace, freedoms and cleanliness of the neighbourhood. I have really, really appreciated the lack of cars. The number of different walks and spacious open fields joined up by beautiful tree lined lanes allowed me to get plenty of exercise just a few minutes from my home.
I have the challenge of redecorating indoors and of changing the winter heating from an antiquated gas system. I would like to obtain grants for more insulation within the house walls, and for installing solar panels I need a trustworthy firm and reliable tariff arrangements. I'd like at least one room with underfloor heating and I'd like a greenhouse then I can keep growing food even in wintertime, and perhaps add some fruit trees and a grape vine.
I'd like the "new normal" to be one in which people all care about the environment. The Council could help us by declaring a rubbish amnesty so we can collect up the fly tipping and front yard dumps of furniture. They could give us a date and in a single fortnight people would fill skips and it would be a great uplift.
