Abandoned Boats on the Gannel

One of Newquay Clean’s current priority issues is tackling the growing number of abandoned boats at the Gannel Estuary. Initial engagement has begun with key landowners, including the National Trust and the Duchy of Cornwall, to explore practical solutions. The Estuary is a valuable part of the town and the Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) with rich history and wildlife. Broken boats litter the area and leak oil and other pollutants which damage this fragile habitat.

A Newquay Clean sub‑group has been established to discuss and progress this issue outside of the monthly partnership meetings.
