We are proposing the installation of two new sections of footway, complete with benches, located opposite and adjacent to the entrance of Monkey Tree Holiday Park. These will be constructed within the existing verges to create designated pedestrian areas for accessing bus services.
What are we consulting on?
We are proposing improvements to the existing bus stops along Scotland Road, near the entrance to Monkey Tree Holiday Park. Currently, these stops lack designated waiting areas for pedestrians in both directions of travel.
To address this, we plan to install two new sections of footway—one on each side of the carriageway—within the existing verges. These will serve as designated areas for pedestrians to access bus services. Each footway will include a bench, a post for bus stop flag signs, and timetable cases. Dropped kerbs will be added to both footways to create an uncontrolled crossing point, improving pedestrian access.
Why are we doing this?
The new footway areas will provide safe and accessible waiting spaces for pedestrians, making it easier for them to board buses directly from the footway adjacent to the carriageway.
Monkey Tree Holiday Park has been identified as a location where improvements are needed to allow pedestrians to wait for buses on a proper section of footway.
Next steps
Once the Consultation finishes on the 25th September 2025 we will collect the feedback and traffic data to decide what to do next.
