With regret the Luxulyan Valley Partnership received information about vandalism to one of the recently installed interpretation panels at the Wheel Pit last week.
The interpretation panel had been broken off from its fittings and ended up in the bottom of the pit in what appears to be a deliberate act of vandalism.
The mater has been reported to the police, and regretfully, is not the first time that the new interpretation in the Valley has been the target of damage since their installation in 2022. Earlier this year, the Council funded repairs and reinstallation of the information panel at the Treffry Viaduct, though owing to the lack of available budget for such non-statutory repairs, it is not possible to confirm that damaged panels will always be treated in this way.
Stakeholders from the Partnership described the recent vandalism as 'Mindless' and want to remind all visitors to the Valley that the site is maintained for the benefit of community enjoyment, seeking to conserve its natural habitats and engage people in its rich heritage and that acts of vandalism detract from this mission for everyone.
