Joint SEND commissioning Priorities Feedback Survey
We have been working with colleagues in Social Care, Education and Health to create a SEND Joint Commissioning Strategy. This strategy is a plan, made by the people in charge of services in Cornwall, to help children and young people who have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). The goal is to make sure they have the best chance to succeed and get the support they need.
We have identified five main priorities. These five priorities were identified by paying attention to feedback from parents, young people, professionals (through the SEND JSNA, the Impower survey and Inclusion Ambition work), the Ofsted SEND Inspection 2023, and also other groups working directly with families. All this information was then gathered together to figure out where things need to improve the most, to help children and young people with SEND.
Now that we have identified what we feel the top five are, we would like your feedback, to make sure these priorities reflect what is important to you as parents/ carers and young people and professionals.
The top 5 priorities are:
1. Ensure children and young people’s SEND needs identified and met at the earliest opportunity through a comprehensive offer of early support (right time).
2. Ensure sufficient, accessible, high-quality education, health and social care provision is commissioned to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND (right support, right setting, right location).
3. Ensure high aspirations for children and young people with SEND, are achieved through effective preparation for adulthood, leading to greater choice, control, independence and resilience.
4. Ensure all CYP with SEND, are valued equally, experience quality teaching, and feel belonging and included, alongside their non-SEND peers.
5. To improve our integrated responses so we can better manage and respond to changes in demand and need, in the most effective, equitable and sustainable way possible.
This survey will ask you how you feel about each priority and if you feel that we have missed something that is important to you.
This survey will close at 12pm am on Tuesday 17th June 2025.
