Helston, Retanna: New footways to improve existing bus stops.

We are proposing to install new sections of footway to link the bus waiting areas to the existing network at Retanna in Helston.
What are we consulting on?
We propose to install sections of footway within highway verges for pedestrians to access existing bus services. North of the A394, we propose to install a footway from the junction leading pedestrians to an uncontrolled crossing point and continues to an eastbound bus waiting area adjacent to carriageway. South of the A394, we propose to install a section of footway to create a westbound bus waiting area which is accessed via the uncontrolled crossing point previously mentioned. Both areas will include a bus stop flag sign and timetable case which will be attached to new posts.
Why are we doing this?
This area has been identified by Cornwall Council as part of their programme of upgrading bus stops across Cornwall to make public transport more user friendly.
Currently, passengers are walking across verges to access bus services.
Next steps
Once the Consultation finishes on the 21st August 2025 we will collect the feedback and traffic data to decide what to do next.
