We are proposing to change motor vehicle access and parking restrictions in the Town Quay area.

What are we consulting on?

To better match with how it is used at different times of year, vehicle restrictions on The Quay are being changed. Prohibition of Motor Vehicles will be in effect 1st May to 30th September, however access will be maintained for loading and access to off-street car parking. The location of the restrictions are also changing to better facilitate seating and pedestrianisation in the summer.

Other changes to support the new vehicle restrictions include changes to disabled bays and the one-way system. See the attached plans for further details.

Why are we doing this?

We have been asked by Fowey Town Council to encourage people to follow the rules better that are already in place and to let local businesses add outdoor seating in the restricted area.

The proposal will be implemented via a special Traffic Order (known as an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO)), which will allow us to gauge the success of the design.

To view details of the scheme & the legal Experimental Traffic Order, please visit our Appyway Platform (Link located on the right, under Traffic Order Details).

Next steps?

Once the Consultation finishes on the 4th June 2025, we will collect the feedback and traffic data to decide what to do next.
