Experience is a project that promotes Cornwall as a year-round destination.
After its success in West Cornwall and Newquay, the project is now focusing on Bodmin from April 2025 to March 2027. It aims to bring more visitors to the town by creating unique cultural and low carbon experiences.
The project has four main parts:
Helping local businesses and people build skills and connections.
Improving what Bodmin offers to visitors.
Promoting Bodmin as a place to visit
Evaluating how well the project is working.
The project team are planning to build on Bodmin’s ambition to become a major tourism destination based on its heritage attractions, cultural events and recreational opportunities.
Whilst it is not traditionally a tourist hotspot, Bodmin is ideally situated to be a gateway to mid-Cornwall. It’s close to Bodmin Moor, the Camel Trail, and both the north and south coasts. It’s also near popular attractions and is surrounded by wild natural landscapes.
The project will run a focused marketing campaign to show off what makes Bodmin special. With investment and improvements in the town, the goal is to create lasting benefits for local people.
This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (2025–26) and from Cornwall Council’s Town Centre Revitalisation Fund (2026–27).
