From Skills to Success: Newquay SWAPS Programme

We are proud to celebrate the success of our recent Leisure and Tourism Newquay SWAPS programme. This programme was delivered in partnership with Argyle Community Trust, the YEP Project, and Newquay Job Centre.

Over two weeks, young people aged 16 to 24 took part in an intensive employability programme. The programme was designed to build confidence, develop skills, and create clear pathways into work.

Across eight sessions, participants achieved a Level 1 qualification in Behaviour, Attitude and Attributes. They also developed key employability skills, including CV writing, interview preparation, and cover letter support. Alongside this, they learned the basics of staying safe in the workplace.

A real highlight of the programme was an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to The Headland Hotel. Participants explored a range of job roles within the leisure and tourism sector and gained valuable insight from industry professionals. We would like to thank the team for being so welcoming and for providing such an engaging day for our participants.

The programme ended with a Get Hired Day. A manager from Parkdean Resorts interviewed every participant for live job opportunities. The impact of the programme has been incredible.
